EASD-Robert Turner Clinical Research Training Course
11 – 14 May 2021

The European Association for the Study of Diabetes is pleased to announce a virtual Robert Turner Training Course 2021 on clinical research in diabetes. The course offers young researchers the opportunity to be trained by an outstanding team on the basic requirements for clinical research. Because of travel and attendance restrictions as a result of Covid-19, the course for 2021 will be virtual (on-line) occurring over 4 consecutive days from 13:00-17:00 Central European Time (CET).

This virtual course will combine lectures, discussions and group work on research-related topics including study design, methodology, statistics, critical analysis, and presentation of data. This course is based on the highly successful, EASD-sponsored, Robert Turner Clinical Research Training Course which has been running for 15 years to honour the late Professor Robert Turner, former director of the Diabetes Research Laboratories in Oxford, and the principal investigator of the UKPDS. Clinical and scientific faculty members from Oxford and Thessaloniki will deliver live interactive teaching to a small number of selected trainees. Sessions will be synchronous and attendance is required throughout the 4 afternoon course.

Criteria and eligibility for the Course
The Course is designed as an introduction to research in the fields of clinical diabetes/endocrinology. It is for clinically qualified doctors who are just entering or are newly engaged in research into diabetes/endocrinology but who have not received a higher (post graduate) research degree. It is open to all paid-up members of EASD who have received their highest medical degree no more than 7 years before 1st January 2021. The course will be held in English and all applicants must be able to communicate in English. All participants are required to attend the entire Course and must be willing to use their cameras. Participants must be conversant with Word and Excel and Zoom and be able to share their email addresses with course participants.

What you will need:
• A computer
• Headset (if possible) plugged in and ready (use of a microphone is also possible)

• A wired internet connection with a 5 Mbit upstream internet connection (recommended)

Cost of the Course
